Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to run your shop on CodeCard — tagging, pricing, selling, printing, and plans. Questions your buyers ask are at the bottom.
Getting started
How do CodeCard tags work?+
You tag each card once. The QR encodes a permanent link, and the price is computed live every time it’s scanned — so a card can sit on your shelf for months and you never re-print a sticker when the market moves.
How do I add inventory?+
From your dashboard, pick the game or category, search the catalog for the exact card, set the condition, and print the tag. Buying a lot? Use Buy mode to add and price a whole stack at once, then print every sticker in one job.
Do my buyers need an app or account to scan?+
No. Buyers just point their phone camera at the tag — no app, no sign-up. Only you (the shop) need an account, so there’s nothing standing between a shopper and the price.
What happens when I sell or remove a card?+
Removing a card archives it — the QR keeps working and can be restored anytime. Codes live forever, so a reused or re-stuck sticker never breaks and old tags never resolve to a dead page.
Where do the prices come from?+
TCGplayer market data (via JustTCG) for TCG singles, PriceCharting for graded/sealed references, eBay sold comps, and CardSight for sports — aggregated per card so each listing reflects the broader market, not a single source.
Pricing
Can I price above or below market?+
Yes. Use a multiplier or set a manual price, and optionally add a short buyer-facing reason (e.g. “complete set”, “low population”) that shows on the scan page so a higher ask makes sense to the shopper.
Can I keep a price from changing on me?+
Yes. By default the displayed price tracks the live market, but a manual price holds steady until you change it. Either way you can set a floor so a listing never drops below what you’ll accept.
A price looks wrong — how do I fix it?+
Market data can occasionally be off for a rare or thinly-traded card. Open the listing’s edit page to set a multiplier or a manual price, or check the live comps on the scan page to see what the sources are reporting. Our PriceGuard system also flags suspicious swings before they ever reach a buyer.
Is my cost and margin private?+
Yes. Your cost, floor, and margin are owner-only — they show on your dashboard but are never included in anything a buyer can see when they scan.
Selling, offers & trading
Does CodeCard process payments?+
No. CodeCard handles live pricing, offers, and recording what sold — you take payment however you already do (cash, your own card reader, etc.). Nothing moves money through the app, so there’s no payout setup or hold.
How do offers work?+
Buyers can send an offer on a single card or a bundle. You accept, counter, or decline each one from the Offers tab and reach the buyer by call, text, or email. Set a hidden minimum and lowball offers below your floor are declined automatically — you never even see them.
How do I record a sale?+
On the Sell page, scan the card’s QR (or search for it), confirm the live price, and mark it sold. That logs the sale to your analytics and removes the card from inventory — nothing leaves inventory until you mark it sold.
Can I take trade-ins?+
Yes. Scan a card you’re taking in and CodeCard prices it at current market on the spot, so you can value a trade quickly and add it straight to inventory.
What’s a buy order?+
A running want-list tied to a person you buy from: add the cards and quantities you’re after, then finalize the order when the cards come in to move them straight into your inventory.
Can I sell cards for someone else (consignment)?+
Yes. A consignor invites you by email; once you accept, you can scan and sell their cards right from your Sell page, and they’re notified of each sale automatically.
Can I move inventory to another shop?+
Yes. Select the cards, send a transfer link to the other shop, and once they accept and you approve, the cards re-parent to their account — keeping the same QR tag, so nothing has to be re-printed.
Plans, printing & account
What printers work? Can I print from an iPhone?+
NIIMBOT label printers print directly over Bluetooth from Android / desktop Chrome, and any AirPrint or standard label printer works too. Direct Bluetooth printing isn’t available on iPhone (no web Bluetooth) — see the printer guide for the recommended setup.
Is there a fee per sale?+
No per-sale or transaction fee. CodeCard is a flat monthly subscription — list, sell, trade, and record as much as your plan allows.
What happens if my subscription lapses?+
Your data is never deleted. Scans show a graceful “pricing paused” page instead of a dead link, and the moment you resubscribe every printed tag lights back up exactly as it was.
Can I add staff to my shop?+
Yes. Invite teammates by email from your Team settings so they can manage inventory and sales under the same shop — staff seats are included on every plan.
Can I get a free or sponsored account?+
We sponsor accounts for some vendors and shops. Tell us about your shop on the sponsorship page and we’ll see if we can fit your needs.
What your buyers ask
What is this QR code?+
It’s a CodeCard tag. Scan it with your phone camera and it shows the current market price for that exact card or collectible — no app or account needed.
Is the price shown what I pay?+
It’s a live market reference, not the final price. The seller sets what they actually charge — always confirm at the register.
Can I make an offer or buy through the code?+
If the seller has offers turned on, you can send an offer right from the scan page — on a single card or a whole bundle. Payment happens directly with the seller; CodeCard doesn’t process payments.
